SJP Survivor Community

... Asks you to stand by us.

To take action now.

... And stop this from happening to future generations.

The SJP Survivor Community is comprised of former alumni, staff, and parishioners of St. Joseph's Pomona, California, who believe they were exposed to harmful chemicals, such as PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) and dioxins by nearby industrial polluters.

In recent months, it has come to light that former alumni of said elementary school are now suffering from unexplained adverse health effects.  Many of whom have been diagnosed in their twenties and thirties with rare cancers or other life altering health conditions.  Clusters of disease, ranging from autoimmune disorders, birth defects, cardiovascular complications, infertility, specific cancers, and even death, all of which can be associated with long-term PCB and dioxin exposure.

The only common denominator of those affected among the former alumni, staff, and parishioners of St. Joseph’s Elementary School, is that of the close proximity to industrial polluters, such as Potlatch Forests Inc., later owned and operated by Simpson Paper Company, and eventually what was expanded into the San Gabriel mill and Cogeneration Power Plant.

By our estimation, the abandoned paper mill/cogeneration power plant is located approximately ¼ mile from the elementary school (and parish) of St. Joseph's, Pomona, Ca.
